We are Outstanding - Ofsted says so!

At Friends Montessori Forest Nursery we provide high quality child care in a caring home from home atmosphere. In the Autumn Term of 2010 Ofsted deemed us outstanding in all categories. To read the full report, log on to www.ofsted.gov.uk/Ofsted-home/Inspection-reports/Early-years-and-childcare using our post code GU5 8PH as the link.

We are situated in Shere only 4 miles from Guildford on the A25 Dorking road. The nursery serves the towns and villages of Shere, Gomshall, East Clandon, Cranleigh, Westcott and Dorking as well as the Guildford suburbs of Merrow and Burpham.

We are the first Forest School nursery in Surrey and established our outdoor learning philosophy in 2009. We have trained Forest Leaders to support a holistic education that links to the Montessori Curriculum for Life. Children from 3 months enjoy the outdoors in all weathers to allow their natural curiosity to run wild and experience the environment first hand. Preschool children visit private woodland to learn bush craft skills, grow their own vegetables and manage hazards to keep themselves safe in the world. The nursery's Montessori philosophy ensures that the children learn in a structured fun and natural environment.

Choosing a nursery for your child is not easy but we are confident you and your child will find our day care meets your highest standards.

Government funding is available for 3 and 4 year olds. Our Outstanding OFSTED report can be read in full on the ofsted website.

Forest School

At Friends Forest School we know all about taking advantage of the learning opportunities the great outdoors can offer.

We are the first Nursery Forest School in Surrey, thanks to getting agreement from local landowners and training with the Wildlife Trust. The philosophy behind Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences.

There are key elements that make Forest Schools different to simply going outdoors.
